Yesterday we learned of creation and the abilities man has because of its likeliness with God.Today we shall look at the duty of man in the garden of Eden(Earth as a whole).We can see in the Verse15that God took man and put him in the garden of Eden to dress it and keep it.
Dressing means to prepare for use or render suitable for an intended purpose.
Now that we know that man is supposed to render the things God has created suitable for its intended purpose what does it mean to Keep?
To keep means to maintain possession or the condition of a thing.So our duty is to keep the earth and anything God has put on it
THE DUTIES OF A KEEPER
1)A KEEPER must know what he is keeping.Whether God has given you a business to keep,a spiritual gift to keep,a family to keep or some church members to keep,you must know the things or the people you are keeping.
2)The things you are keeping(if they are living things) must also know you.If you are asked to take care of some people try and let them know you.Its when if they know you that they can obey or move along with you.Its hard to be lead by a stranger
3)Keep in mind there is a personal benefit to what you are doing.Whether you are doing the work of a keeper for God or for your boss or even for yourself note in mind that there is a reward for good and faithful keepers(just like the servants with the talents)
4)A KEEPER must also obey the rule that governs his work.Some people may see rules as bad things but they actually do us good.Rules helps to shape and direct our ways.Adam and Eve were also given a rule that governed their keeping work
5)A KEEPER must know that when rules are broken the locks of mistrust and misfortune are broken as well.When Adam and Eve broke the rules they lost a certain amount of God’s trust and thus lost some privileges they enjoyed.
