National Road Safety Authority & Vivo Energy Launches Road Safety Campaign

The National Road Safety Authority (NRSA) in partnership with Vivo Energy (Shell) and it’s transporters launches road safety campaign dubbed Stop, Think & Drive.

The road safety campaign was launched at Circle New Station right under the overhead. In attendance were the Director General of NRSA, May Obiri Yeboah, Greater Accra Regional Manager of DVLA, Accra Central MTTD Commander, Martin Ayih, the Managing Director for Vivo Energy Ghana, Ben Hassan Watara

The dignitaries threw the spotlight on some of causes of the high rate of road accidents in the country. They spoke about the use of mobile phones when driving, drinking and driving, driving tires, overspeed, not wearing of seat belts, jumping of red lights and inappropriate parking of cars on the road.

The Director General of NRSA reiterated on the intensive driving program meant to retrain or give drivers who are already driving to keep them updated. The MD for Vivo Energy also stated that, drivers and riders are going to be trained intensively on defensive driving skills to help reduce the rate of road traffic fatalities. According to Ben Hassan Watara, Vivo Energy Ghana has initiated similar programs in the past and they are going to make sure this new campaign yields good reports.

The launch was ended with a vote of thanks from the communicator for DVLA Pearl Gyasie, shoots with the dignitaries and an in class training for the drivers on the defensive driving skills.
