“ABOBOYAA” TO BE BANNED FROM USING HIGHWAYS AND PRINCIPAL STREETS IN GREATER ACCRA.

The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Henry Quartey posted on his FaceBook page that a bye-law is being worked on to ban the use of highways and principal streets by tricycles (Aboboyaa) in the Greater Accra Region.

According to his post, he met with the Greater Accra Parliamentary Caucus of both ruling party (NPP) and opposition party (NDC), Council of State Members, Representative from the Office of the Attorney General, Ghana Police Service, DVLA, Transport Unions, Ministry of Roads and Highways, Waste Management Service Providers, GUTA, Traditional Authority, Dean of All Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives and Dean of all Presiding Members to conclude stakeholder consultations for a Bye-Law to revive and ensure strict compliance and enforcement of the Road Traffic Regulations for Motorbike riders, abandoned vehicles on streets, and also ban tricycles (Aboboyaa) from using the Highways and Principal streets in the Greater Accra Region.

The regional Minister is known for his perseverance to “Make Greater Accra Work”. He recently succeeded in ejecting onion sellers at the Agbogbloshie market and was commended by many for accomplishing such a difficult task. He is determined to embark on developmental projects like this to bring order in the city of Accra and make it work.
