Menz Gold Saga Victims Protest In Front Of The Registrar General’s Department

According to rumours, the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E DR. MAHAMUDU BAWUMIA was to visit the Registrar General’s Department today, September 23, 2019 but it turned out not to be true although something significant went on over there.

A group of persons gathered in front of the Registrar General’s Department in their Red and Black attire with different sign posts in their hands calling on the President to do something about the payment of their locked up monies. According to information, the protestors are the victims of the Menz Gold Saga and those who were affected by the closure of some financial institutions as a result of the government’s directives.

According to recent news, preparations were made for the repayment of the victims to be made and according to claims, some even have received their payments but it seems that is not the case or even if it is, most people haven’t received theirs.

According to a witness who was part of the protestors, the victims were organized from places like Obuasi, Tarkwa, Techiman, Sunyani, Northern Region and other places across the country. Police officers were also called on them and they were sacked from the Registrar General’s Department which led to the arrest of some of the ring leaders.

A couple of the people also turned out not to be victims of the closure of the financial institutions. Their reasons for partaking in the protest is not known, but probably to support family and friends who are victims.

We all plead the government to do something about the payment of their monies because a lot of people are in financial crisis as a result of the Menz Gold Saga and Closure of Banks and Microfinances.
