JERRY JOHN RAWLINGS HAS PASSED AWAY – Ghana’s Ex President

According to reports, Jerry John Rawlings, the First President of the Fourth Republic of Ghana has passed away. Reports have it that Mr Rawlings had been on admission at Korle Bu for about a week for an undisclosed ailment but unfortunately gave up the ghost this Thursday morning, November 12, 2020.

Jerry John Rawlings – Ghana’s First 4th Republican President

He was born in June 1947 in Accra, Ghana, to Victoria Agbotui, an Ewe from DzelukopeKeta and James Ramsey John, a chemist from Castle Douglas in Kirkcudbrightshire, Scotland. Rawlings attended Achimota School and a military academy at Teshie. Rawlings is married to Nana Konadu Agyeman and have three daughters: Zanetor Rawlings (the current Member of Parliament for Klottey Korley Constituency who is running for another term), Yaa Asantewaa Rawlings, Amina Rawlings; and one son, Kimathi Rawlings together.

He is a symbol of discipline whose memories shall forever live in the hearts of Ghanaians and in the time history. I can recall how our old men and women talk about him with so much love, passion and admiration. And how people would often say “If this was J.J’s time like this would not happen or you can’t do this).

It is sad he has to leave in this moment; his mother was laid to rest few weeks ago and he has also followed her leaving us in tears. You have created a vacuum in our hearts but we know you have gone to a better place where there is no worries and pain.

Rest in perfect our role model and icon. You are gone but still with us.

Madam Victoria Agbotui – J.J. Rawlings Late Mother

Our sincere condolences to the family as well. May the Lord be their strength in this time of bereavement.
